GAH – with only 2 months to go before my first half-marathon, I realized that I really need to get back in the groove with my training. Weeks 7 & 8 were…not quite up to par. It is hot. So. Hot. There has been a freakish heat wave over the last two weeks that has knocked me on my butt…and made me sluggishly slow on my outdoor runs. The heat index has been consistently over 100* each day! So my solution…elliptical training. I know it’s not the same thing as running…heck, even the treadmill is a closer simulation…but at least I was up and moving. So for my training records, I gave myself an elliptical equivalent of 10 min/mile (days marked in purple below).
As you can see, I missed my scheduled long run. Wah-Wah My original plan was to swap my long runs weeks 7 & 8…but even then I didn’t quite reach my first 8-miler. So…I have decided to just shift my long runs by 1 mile over the next month so that I get up to 12 miles before I taper (instead of the full 13). So – this weekend is my anticipated 8-miler!
