Daydream: Angkor Wat { Cambodia }

AngkorWat1

Hello friends!  Angkor is one of the most important archaeological sites in South-East Asia.  Angkor Archaeological Park contains the magnificent remains of the different capitals of the Khmer Empire, from the 9th to the 15th centuries, including the famous Temple of Angkor Wat.  Today I’m { daydreaming } about this temple complex built by King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century as his state temple and capital city.  Angkor Wat is the best-preserved temple at the site, and it is the only one to have remained a significant religious center since its foundation – first Hindu, dedicated to the god Vishnu, then Buddhist.  It has become a symbol of Cambodia, appearing on its national flag, and is the country’s prime attraction for visitors.  (Image credits via Flickr 1, 2, 3, 4 / Info found HERE and HERE).  Enjoy!
